CLAUDIO SINATTI

Claudio Sinatti (Milan 1972). After drawing and painting passionately since I was a kid I began using Super8 and Hi8 cameras in the mid 90s.
In 1996 Riccardo Struchil and I were assigned Best Italian Video Award at PIM for codirecting our first music promo for Italian band Casino Royale. For the following 4 years I directed music promos ( 99 Posse, Neffa, Carmen Consoli, Articolo 31, Alex Britti, Alexia, Eiffel 65, Sarah Jane Morris, Africa Unite... ) bouncing back and forth between Milan and New York. In between productions I was experimenting with film and video projections at friends parties. Back in Milan n 1999 I founded the video collective Sun Wu-Kung with the main interest of exporing the live manipulation of sounds and images. The collective was active until the end of 2002 and gathered several video makers, photographers, animators, painters, musicians, djs... Later that year Sergio Messina and I began our collaboration as audiovisual band Crop and I started another mix media band called Grain with musician Jonas Coshto. Besides my solo work I began collaborating on single projects with many different musicians and artists like Ulrich Troyer, Christian Fennesz, Tu 'M, Mou, Lips!, Kyò, Retina.it, Pierpaolo Leo, Stephan Mathieu, Olivier Lamm...
In 2004 Andrea Gabriele, Marita Cosma and I started the mix media project Pirandelo. In 2005 I was invited to be part of Symbiosis Orchestra, a live mixedmedia project with Iris Garrelfs, Scanner, Stefano Tedesco, Andrea Gabriee, Marco Messina, Geoff Warren, Mario Masullo and Diego Conti. Throughout the years I have been invited to numerous festivals and events in Italy and abroad, mostly as a mixedmedia performer.
I hold frequent lectures and workshops and I teach video design and live mixedmedia at the European Institute of Design in Milan.
