O'A.I.R. is a programme of residencies for artists and curators, taking place in the gallery space of O'artoteca, Milan, Italy developed in collaboration with Hotel Pupik (Austria). The project, started in 2006, counts four residency programmes per year (october 2006 – july 2007 ). The third one, “That's a wonder! What is it?” , hosts the artists Alessandro Bosetti , Nana Schulz and Audrey Chen, who will present on March 6th 2007 the works&researches developed during their Residence (started in january 16th). The work of Alessandro Bosetti is divided in three parts: a new cycle of opus; an istallation called "exposè" (33 ideas printed and posted up on the wall); three music compositions based on three of those 33 ideas; and a new music edition (created for Die Schachtel) based on the same materials of the installation. "exposè" Europe is a castle. Elsewhere you find a discomfort that is both daily and cruel. After much traveling, it is absolutely necessary to release certain ideas. They clog one's head. Some have already been carried out. Others will be in the future. Others still are impossible to carry out because they lack any tangible interests. Traveling outside of Europe doesn't require any report. To continue traveling, however, it's necessary to get some space from all the things that filled your mind during the delays, queues, the endless transfers. Perhaps, over the years, the restlessness of whoever that couldn't survive a week locked up in a cell is mitigated by the experience of repetitive comebacks. The castle threatens to collapse. The differences are effaced while the discomfort appears benevolent. Trophies become objects of daily use. Nana Schulz builds a complex installation composed by videos and organic forms taking place the one on the other, and growing one from the other. A dark box for a video screening, created during the Residence, is the basis of the big tree made of wood, paperboard and other materials. One part of her work is also leaving the share of the space, used like a personal studio, as well as it is right now, a sort of ‘work-in-progress-place', becoming itself a part of the installation. Suddenly I have an idea and rather exact picture of a work, not even knowly, when it came from or what it is about. This time it's a tree growing upon the roof and a dog seeking for something in the underground. The project of Audrey Chen is composed by an installation and two performances showed in two different moments: - installation/performance “ 'cabinet' or a plastic button as big as wall or as small as an ant...“ - a collaborative project utilizing cardboard, shields, spaceships, winding stairs, zippers, and a mouse with fat intestines. We are talking about 6 years of history. farther back in fact. dreams. displacement. development. desires. and intimacy. mother and son. finding home... - audrey chen (30) and iven chen-van dyk (6). - the concert “eyebrow in the eyebrow place but in your eye place...” - solo improvisations. antics. - audrey chen (voice/cello/electronics) |
